Yahoo! Launches Search Direct!
By: Navneet Kaushal 2011-03-25 Yahoo! has announced the launch of a beta version of Yahoo Search Direct, calling the event the beginning of the beginning of a new era in search (that! we'll wait and see). Search Direct claims to give its users 'answers' and not just 'links.' Here's an excerpt from the post that elaborates how Search Direct works:
"We offer the top 30 results in a way that is extremely simple to comprehend. As the user types, we provide the top 10 most likely searches and for each of those we provide the top 3 results. We call it search previews. It provides bite size results that make it incredibly easy for a user to scan and actually comprehend the top results. And once the user finds the site they need, we provide direct access to it, removing the unnecessary step of a results page. In removing all the noise, youre finally able to focus on your search intent, getting directly to your answer and getting on with your day. Awesome." Given the above explanation, it would be incorrect to say that Yahoo! has copied Google Instant by coming up with Search Direct. Moreover, Yahoo launched the Yahoo Instant Search in 2005, way before Google Instant came. It rather seems more like a formidable rival. Features that you can find in the Yahoo Search Direct are:
Trending searches, search previews, direct answers and results etc., indeed will take the task of following numerous links (happens a lot of times) to find that one link that perfectly fits your criteria. If it does deliver, it means faster, easy and direct search results. Sounds awesome enough indeed. Search Direct is available on search.yahoo.com, try it now.
