Google Updates Webmaster Tool For The Holiday
By: Navneet Kaushal 2010-12-14 Prompt with solutions and ever ready to please its users, Google has updated the Webmaster Tools, 'Just in time for the holidays'. Happy should be all the people who requested for this to be done. The "Search queries" and "Links to your site" features were updated and announced on Google's Webmaster Central Blog on 10 December.
Now as per the request, the users will be be able to see search queries data for their sites individual pages. The search queries feature in Webmaster Tools has a new "Top Pages" tab listing impression, click, and position data for the top pages on the user's site based on their performance in Google's search results.
A click on one of the individual pages listed reveals a list of the queries driving traffic to that page along with impressions and number of clicks for each query too.
The user can also see more detailed data and evaluate how each query is performing across the whole site by clicking on a specific query.
Also pie charts are added to visually depict the proportions of search type, location and traffic to make filtering even more easy. Plus in the "Top queries" view, the user can now specify "containing" or "not containing" when filtering queries.
Finally, now the 'Links to your site' shows when a particular URL redirects. If there's a link to the user's site that links to URL1 which then redirects to URL2, the link from URL1 to URL2 is now shown as an intermediate link. A "Download all links" option to all the tables in the links to the user's site feature also has been added.
Google indeed seem to know the joy of giving, freely! Now go try them out and let them know how you like it. Here's a tip of the hat from me.
