McAfee Identifies Most Dangerous (Search) Celebs
By: Doug Caverly 2010-08-20 People who are obsessed with celebrities may want to take a break, at least when it comes to some of the individuals named in a recent McAfee report. Yesterday, McAfee released some facts about dangerous search results and their association with certain celebs.
Cameron Diaz is the individual fans should be most cautious Googling. McAfee said in a statement, "McAfee research found that searching for the latest Cameron Diaz pictures and downloads yields a ten percent chance of landing on a website that's tested positive for online threats, such as spyware, adware, spam, phishing, viruses and other malware." Next in terms of risks come Julia Roberts, Jessica Biel, and Gisele Bundchen, followed by Brad Pitt, Adriana Lima, and - tied for seventh place - Jennifer Love Hewitt and Nicole Kidman. Finally, rounding out the top ten, there's Tom Cruise, Heidi Klum and Penelope Cruz sharing ninth place, and Anna Paquin. McAfee's Dave Marcus, who's a security researcher, observed, "Cybercriminals follow the same hot topics as consumers, and create traps based on the latest trends. Whether you're surfing the Web from your computer or your phone or clicking on links in Twitter about your favorite celeb, you should surf safely, and make sure you're using the latest security software." Good luck getting all the latest gossip without catching any viruses along the way. About the Author: Doug is a staff writer for SearchNewz, WebProNews, InternetFinancialNews, and SecurityProNews. |
