Google Enables Mobile Search History Feature
By: Doug Caverly 2010-08-04 It's not hard to bookmark an important page, and often, a person's memory also makes it possible to retrace steps online. But there are times when a little assistance in finding something again becomes necessary, and Google's stepped in to help mobile users with a new search history option.
The feature couldn't be much easier to use. A post on the Google Mobile Blog explained, "Just sign in and then tap the history link at the bottom of the Google homepage." Then, "If you've enabled search history in your account . . . the history that you see is a combination of all your searches done while you are signed-in, whether you are searching from a laptop at home, your desktop computer at work, or your phone . . ." Google will differentiate between those different types of searches, too (using a combination of phone icons and screenshot thumbnails), making it even easier for people to find a page or set of sites they've seen before. This should prove to be a very useful feature for people who don't mind sharing their search histories with Google. And everyone else can still keep the search history option disabled for greater privacy. Recent stats showed that Google has a 98.29 percent share of the mobile search market. The company looks like it's aiming for 100 percent with upgrades of this nature. About the Author: Doug is a staff writer for SearchNewz, WebProNews, InternetFinancialNews, and SecurityProNews. |
