Bing Makes Big Search Gains In June
By: Doug Caverly 2010-07-09 The sixth month of 2010 was a great one for Bing, according to the latest stats from Experian Hitwise. The research company determined that Bing's share of the search market rose seven percent on a month-over-month basis, while none of its competitors fared half as well.
Let's start at the top. Experian Hitwise found that Google's still dominating the market, of course, but the search giant's share decreased from 72.17 percent to 71.65 percent between May and June, which works out to a one percent decline. As for Yahoo, its drop wasn't so dramatic - actually rounding down to zero - but its share did decline from 14.43 percent to 14.37 percent in the same time period. And now it's time to talk about Bing. Bing controlled 9.85 percent of the search market in June, according to Experian Hitwise, and that's up from 9.23 percent in May. Not bad at all, and perhaps even enough to make the search specialists at Yahoo worry. Finally, if you're curious, Ask also managed to increase its market share, managing a two percent month-over-month gain that took it from 2.14 percent to 2.19 percent. As always, it should be interesting to see what happens next. About the Author: Doug is a staff writer for SearchNewz, WebProNews, InternetFinancialNews, and SecurityProNews. |
