YouTube Video Editor Debuts
By: Doug Caverly 2010-06-17 Most experts agree that "universal search" (search that goes beyond 10 blue links) is the way of the future, and as it becomes more popular, videos will start showing up on the first page of search results more often. It's potentially rather important, then, that Google's introduced the YouTube Video Editor.
In the past, messing with videos meant owning a fast computer and some expensive software. Plus having the expertise to use the software, which could come with a dictionary-thick instruction manual. Google's tried to fix that. The YouTube Video Editor is free, available to everyone, and doesn't even require a software download. As for what it can do, a post on the YouTube Blog explained that it allows users to "-c-ombine multiple videos you've uploaded to create a new longer video," "-t-rim the beginning and/or ending of your videos," "-a-dd soundtracks from our AudioSwap library of tens of thousands of songs," and "-c-reate new videos without worrying about file formats and publish them to YouTube with one click -- no upload necessary." Plenty of stuff for the average video maker, in other words, without offering so many options as to boggle the mind. This should come in handy to an increasing degree as videos become permanent fixtures among other search results.
