User-Friendly Facebook Search Feature
By: Brandon Leibowitz
2010-04-05 Last Tuesday, Facebook announced on its blog an important improvement to its Search feature. In the past, queries were limited to a member's inner circle of people, events, groups, and Pages. The development, which has now been finalized, provides more relevant results by including the connections of your friends and global events that pertain to your search topic.

A "See More Results" menu option allows members to see results in their entirety and to refine search terms even further.
Blogger and Facebook engineer Wayne Kao states that, "Discovering and making connections to friends, applications and other voices is an important part of your experience on Facebook. That's why today we are rolling out an improvement to Search to help you quickly find and connect with the people, Pages, groups, events and applications you care about."
These types of improvements are part of an ongoing effort to make social media networking more user-friendly. Twitter recently announced an update to the site's Search feature. The most popular "tweets" will now be listed at the top of the page instead of in chronological order.
Today's harried individual does not have time to wade through pages and pages of content. Making time-saving improvements to pre-existing features helps social networking sites stay on top of the issues that matter most to their users.
A more efficient search feature also eliminates the frustration of new members who have yet to master site navigation. Continued improvements in the way that social media networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn handle their business is one of the many reasons why success follows them to all corners of the globe.
In addition to being a driving force for individuals in hundreds of countries, Facebook encourages businesses to change their dynamics by engaging with new and existing customers. Individual users of the site are also encouraged to engage with businesses online.
Social media networking makes it easier for consumers to make educated purchasing decisions based on the information disclosed within the confines of a member's profile, blog, and page. An improved search feature makes it easier to find targeted member pages based on specific criteria and the string of keywords entered.
