Google Recaps Real-Time And Image-Related Updates

Google has a market cap of $172.5 billion right now, and as of December, had about 19,850 employees. Which is another way of suggesting that the search giant has a whole lot going on, and in case you missed them, it chose to recap some of the developments that occurred last week.

The first thing to be mentioned in a post on the Official Google Blog was the introduction of real-time search in Japanese and Russian. Since the English language can only take a company so far, this is obviously an important step to getting Google more market share on a global scale.

Closer to home, real-time updates from MySpace were integrated into regular Google search results. And while we'll admit that this might not seem super-important - different traffic-tracking terms agree that MySpace has lost to Facebook in several respects - a lot of people still use the social network, and it never hurts to have more information available upon request.

Finally, Marissa Mayer, Google's vice president of search products and user experience, wrote, "-W-e have improved the -site:- operator for Google Images. In the past, the -site:- operator filtered based on the image URL, not based on the URL of web pages linking to the images. Now, the operator will run your search over web sites that include images, no matter where the images themselves are hosted, which removes a lot of noise from your results and gives you more control over what you're searching for."

Hopefully that was informative. And given that Google's market cap ticked above $173.0 billion in the time it took to write this article, the search giant's almost sure to keep on pumping out updates this week and for the foreseeable future.
