As youve almost surely heard by now, the European Commission and the U.S. Department of Justice have approved the proposed Microsoft-Yahoo search deal. However . . . Yahoo! will continue to enhance the search result listings as we do for people today, Seth continued on the Yahoo Search Blog. This means that rich results, results from products like Yahoo News, and Yahoo-specific tools like Search Pad and Search Scan will remain part of the Yahoo Search experience.

Other interesting features are supposed to be on the way, too. Seth promised new apps and tools to lessen the amount of time it takes to get things done, even as exploration options should proliferate for when people feel like exploring different subjects. Also, Search Assist, an existing tool, is due for an upgrade.

More details should become available over time, of course. The main thing Yahoo wants everyone to remember is that the new deal doesnt mean it will be refashioned as a Bing clone. Yahoo fans shouldnt have any reason to abandon ship, and the company even seems to remain hopeful that it will attract new users.
