Google Will "Personalize" Your Search When You're Not Logged In

OK so it seem that Google will now personalize the search experience for desktop and not users, unless your signed in. I have been prognosticating this for some time now and it seems it is here. This is or could be a big change to how or if visitors get to your website from the SERPs. No telling yet how this is effecting...

...rankings as the post just came out a few hours ago. Weird they release this late on Friday and at the same time say no major changesfrom Caffeine will be seen till next year. Well Google this could majorly effect some websites for sure. I am thinking more locally optimized sites.

Personalized Search for everyone

"Today were helping people get better search results by extending Personalized Search to signed-out users worldwide, and in more than forty languages. Now when you search using Google, we will be able to better provide you with the most relevant results possible. For example, since I always search for -recipes- and often click on results from epicurious.com, Google might rank epicurious.com higher on the results page the next time I look for recipes. Other times, when Im looking for news about Cornell Universitys sports teams, I search for -big red-. Because I frequently click on www.cornellbigred.com, Google might show me this result first, instead of the Big Red soda company or others."

They even made a cute video trying to explain what is going on.

Uh are you happy about this at all as SEO, SEM or business owners? Who wins and loses with this? To be honest I didnt worry about this since they only did this when users were logged into Google Accounts. Now it is a whole different story.

If you want to turn off personalization completely go here.
