Google Having Issues In The UK 
By: Doug Caverly 2006-07-18 The good people who have brought us Radiohead, Mr. Bean, and the Lotus car company are not being brought their Google. Not reliably, anyway. Users in the UK have been reporting on-and-off instances in which they cannot access various Google sites and services.
Danny Sullivan wrote on Search Engine Watch that he has been unable to reach Google, Gmail's web site, Google Analytics, AdSense, AdWords, and Google Accounts. Don't think this is user error - Sullivan "talked with a Google engineer this evening for about a half hour, trying various things to figure out what's wrong. Google still isn't certain." It's not an isolated event, either. In the Digital Point Forums, a thread was started on the issue. "Blitz" wrote that Google was "down for me . . . . I even restarted my internet thinking it was originally my connection when I couldn't get onto google and gmail wasn't refreshing . . . ." Many individuals made similar statements, although things ran as smoothly as ever for others. No one seemed to have any explanation for the problem. Then at last there was a post by "Market-Trend," who relayed this "message i had from a hosting company": "We are currently experiencing routing issues from a number of ISP's which may result in your websites being unavailable. Our engineers are currently working to resolve this problem and we expect the service to be resolved shortly." Since then, two users have reported back that Google is working properly for them again. Hopefully this is evidence of a permanent fix. Our friends in the UK deserve a fully functional Google. Add to | DiggThis | Yahoo!
