Google Grants Wish, Establishes Goodwill
By: Doug Caverly 2006-07-14 Pretty much everyone regards Google as one of the "nicer" Internet companies out there. From their "do no evil" days forward, they just seem friendlier than a lot of other corporations. Now, Google has really convinced one blogger of their kind disposition.
Al Scillitani had written an article for Marketing Pilgrim about his difficulties with Google adwords. "My head hurts," the story began. After considering the matter, he proposed an agreement: "I will try to keep up with your changes and try to help others use your new features, tools, and formats through articles and step by step guides, but I want some acetaminophen." That was just a humorous ending, not a sincere request. But now, about two weeks later, Scillitani has written a follow-up article. "To my surprise, they sent me the pain relief I requested." Aww, how sweet. "Google continues to amaze me," Scillitani said. "Even though they are a huge company, they obviously found my article on Marketing Pilgrim, got some acetaminophen, wrote a letter, and mailed it to me. This may not have taken much of their time, but I am sure it is the small things, like this, that make their employees love working there." Scillitani's article continued, "I took the acetaminophen . . . and I feel a lot better. As a matter of fact I feel so good I am preparing my next article, 'Dear Google, I Need a Vacation.'" If the company fulfills that wish, you're going to start seeing a lot of requests in my articles, too. Add to | DiggThis | Yahoo!
