Taking Stock With Ask.com
By: David Utter 2006-05-24 The Smart Answers feature available through the Ask search engine provides some nice shortcuts for people searching for information on publicly traded companies.
In the latest episode of the Ask.com Blog, Director of Online Information Resources Gary Price described the usefulness of Smart Answers when it comes to financial data about stocks and traded companies. Many of the tricks Price illustrated can be used for companies listed on US and foreign exchanges. One can query Ask about market capitalization, outstanding shares, P/E ratios, stock prices, and ticker symbols according to the post. Information for these queries comes from the MarketWatch financial site and its Big Charts service. Entering Market Summary into the Ask search box returns currently available numbers for the Dow Jones Industrials, Nasdaq, and the S&P 500. It's definitely interesting to do P/E ratios for GE and Google. Google's was 66.06 at press time, GE's at 19.02. --- Tags: Ask.com, Smart Answers, Gary Price Add to Del.icio.us | DiggThis | Yahoo!
