DigForIt Search Engine On EBay
By: David Utter 2006-05-05 Koove.com developer Eric Willis has placed his DigForIt.com metasearch property up for sale on eBay, and bidding has reached $2,025 already. TechCrunch posted the news that DigForIt has been placed on eBay's auction block. The auction runs through May 14th, and after starting at one penny 13 bidders have pushed the price to $2,025 as of press time. "The reason for selling this engine is because I would like to recoup my research expenditures and invest the proceeds into my startup," Willis wrote in the auction notes. Entering a query into the search box on DigForIt will trigger an Ajax window to appear under it if it thinks it recognizes the query. It is similar to what Google Suggest or AOL Smart Answers will do, but DigForIt's window offers three suggested queries and three search results in that window when it pops up. In the search results, the user can move a slider control to orient the results by Google, Yahoo, or MSN Search. Searching from the Blogs tab instead of web changes the slider to Google, Feedster, and Technorati. Maybe this will be an interesting buy for someone who can develop it further. Now we'll just have to wait and see whose last-second snipe scores the win. --- Tag: DigForIt Add to | DiggThis | Yahoo! My Web | Furl Have a bookmark! -
