Google Says Choose Your Mobile News

The latest service from Google on the mobile phone front lets users hit Google News from the Google.com page and browse the headlines.

Extra, extra, read all about it. Google News goes mobile. Pull up the Google homepage on the mobile and click on over to Google News.

The beta test of Google News for Mobiles has been enabled for users in the U.S. Headlines and the familiar news categories like Business, Sports, and Entertainment appear, and users can search for specific story topics in the news.

Google noted in a statement that not all news sources will be shown in News for Mobiles. "Only sources whose content has been designed specifically for viewing on mobile devices are displayed, ensuring that users can quickly and easily read the news they want," the company said.

It looks like Google made a good choice in making its popular News site better integrated with mobile phones. The company has a deal with Opera software that makes Google the default search with Opera's widely used mobile browser. The News for Mobiles service gives Google a little more brand reinforcement among its wireless users.
