Google Earth's Flying Car Of Perth

A floating rectangular object near a Perth, Australia parking lot looks a bit like an airborne automobile.
Is it an advance in transportation technology? An odd-shaped low-flying promotional balloon? George Jetson's first prototype vehicle? A Ford Anglia carrying Harry Potter and the Weasley brothers on vacation?
Whatever it is, it appears on Google Earth, the Sydney Morning Herald reported, along with several other sources. The rectangular object casts a definite shadow, and can be seen in Google Local as well as Earth.
Although news of the odd floating item has made its way around the world in a week, it took that long just to cross the Australian continent to the pages of the Herald. The paper reported how a reader of The Register's website, where the image first became more widely-known, went to the site of the floating object and took pictures that showed nothing unusual about the place.
So what was floating in air Down Under? No one knows, but theories abound. What will likely happen is someone who does know what it was will come forward with some prosaic explanation. And of course, no one will believe it; but that's what makes a good conspiracy theory.
