Google Extends Lead In Search Share

While Google was adding to its lead in search engine share, MSN Search gained at Yahoo and AOL's expense.

The figures released by comScore networks don't show any surprises for August search rankings. Google is number one again, followed by Yahoo, MSN, AOL, and Ask Jeeves. The numbers break down like this:

- Google, 37.3%
- Yahoo!, 29.7%
- MSN Search, 15.8%
- AOL Search, 9.6%
- Ask Jeeves, 6%

Google grew in share by 1.2 percent over July's figures. Yahoo lost almost a full percentage point, while AOL did drop by one percent.

MSN looks like they picked up some of that lost share. MSN's numbers grew by 4.4 percent from July. Ask (soon to be minus Jeeves) crept up slightly by a tenth of a percentage point.
