One person who won't make the switch from Skype to eBay will be its head of product development.
A new hire for Yahoo! UK could mean the Skype acquisition by eBay just got diluted a little bit. eBay recently purchased Skype in a deal that could ultimately be worth $4.1 billion USD. Eileen Broch won't be waiting around to see if Skype hits those three financial targets needed to trigger the extra $1.5 billion, though.
NewMediaAge disclosed how Ms. Broch will become the new director of Yahoo! Communication Products in the UK and the EU. This gives her oversight and responsibility for such services as Yahoo's Mail, Messenger, and Photos (formerly Flickr).
Her group's work at Skype saw the popular VoIP product move from a beta version to a client functional on multiple operating systems. That group also helped build products for the mobile and enterprise markets, the article states.
Yahoo and British Telecom jointly offer VoIP in the UK. Also, Yahoo has previously implemented "click to call" services within Yahoo Messenger; that feature, in conjunction with local search, allows Yahoo to monetize advertising placements with a pay-per-call scheme.
