Belanger Takes Yahoo's Pitch, Joins Search Team

Ron Belanger, most recently of BuyDomains.com, will help Yahoo clients and agencies develop their online ad campaigns.

Mr. Belanger's stint with BuyDomains.com as VP of marketing barely lasted a month, as the former Carat interactive exec jumped on a job offer from Yahoo, an AdWeek report has noted. He was considered Carat's top search executive after arriving at that firm from Inceptor in late 2003.

Yahoo created the position of senior director of global advertiser strategy and development for the executive. Mr. Belanger will be based in Boston, not Yahoo's home of Sunnyvale, CA, as he assists Yahoo's advertisers in creating "performance-based" campaigns.

Mr. Belanger's time with Carat should serve him well in his new capacity. He told AdWeek via email Yahoo's offer was "an unexpected opportunity I could not pass up." Previously, he has helped create search strategies for General Electric and Best Buy, among other companies.

"As advertisers begin to ask the larger questions around ideal media mixes and brand impact, Yahoo is uniquely poised to provide comprehensive solutions and I want to be part of that," he also noted in the email to AdWeek.
