New Shortcuts For Google's Mobile Search

By Chris Crum

Article Date: 2005-08-31

Google has made three new search features available for users of its mobile web search (XHTML) service including easy ways to find movie showtimes, weather conditions, and stock prices.

If you want to find local movie showtimes, you can simply enter the movie title followed by the zipcode, or "movies" followed by the city and state.

If you want to find your local weather conditions, just enter "weather" followed by either the zip code or the city and state. If you are looking for a stock price, just enter the ticker symbol.

The results you are looking for will be displayed above the web results displayed on your phone, making it quick and easy to find exactly what you are looking for.

As Gary Price points out, similar shortcuts are also available at Yahoo Mobile and 4info.net. The user interface for Google's mobile service can be viewed here.
