Yahoo Raise Y!Q Quotient

The Yahoo search blog says the new Yahoo Messenger and an updated Toolbar contain support for the Y!Q Contextual Search function.
Yahoo recently updated its Messenger client to include support for voice calls, but it also added support for Y!Q within the client's Live Words feature too. By selecting a word or group of words in a chat session, the Y!Q magnifying glass icon appears. Mouse over the icon, and you will see a search results window appear.
That functionality had been available in the Yahoo Demobar, a separate download for users. Reiner Kraft, posting in the Yahoo search blog, noted how users asked why the Demobar couldn't be combined with the Toolbar.
The Sunnyvale folks have went ahead and combined the Y!Q functions and other features into the latest version of the Yahoo Toolbar. That toolbar now lets users save pages to their My Web account, and has controls for the Y! Music Engine on-board.
Yahoo has done a nice job of continuing to build upon its business by providing new user features. The payoff has been lengthy stays within the Yahoo network by its users and visitors, and greater exposure to the valuable ad properties that provide Yahoo with its revenue stream.
