The heavily visited Spanish language site will use Google's search technology on its web properties.
Univision plans to make better use of its content by providing its online visitors with Google search capabilities. The two companies agreed to a multi-year placement of Google's search boxes on the Univision web site.
"Google's agreement with the largest Spanish-language media company in the United States provides Univision's users with relevant information from search results and ads and gives our advertisers a new and targeted way to reach the Hispanic audience," said Tim Armstrong, Vice President, Advertising Sales, Google Inc, in a statement.
The ad potential for Univision looks very promising. The media company says it reaches 98 percent of Hispanic households in the United States. And Hispanic use of the Internet, particularly via broadband connections, has been growing.
Search results on Univision's web site will display sponsored links above and below the standard results. Univision has implemented Google's ad technology on other places within its site, appearing on the bottom of pages containing news and other stories.
