Google Hit With A Number Of Cease And Desist Requests

No one said being on top was easy. In case you need further proof, just ask Google. The search engine king was recently hit with 3 cease and desist notices, asking them to remove certain content from their index.

News of the desist notices was provided by Chilling Effects, a clearinghouse of cease and desist letters. All three letters ask Google to remove materials that could be defaming to the particular sites.

The first complaint comes from a Spanish company who requests removal of certain pages because they were deemed offensive to the company. The site in question was showing up on a Google Spain search for the keyword "relevance".

The second notice comes from a British company, who happens to be seeking the same from Google as the Spanish group, the removal of certain pages. Again, defamation is the reason cited.

The third complaint comes for a company originating out of Germany. Unfortunately, their complaint is in the German language and Babel Fish does not provide an accurate translation. However, they also cite defamation as the motivating reason behind their C and D notice.

Thanks to the SearchEngineWatch blog for the heads-up.
