Gmail Clips Test RSS Advertising

With RSS continuing to be adopted as a form of content distribution and as subscriptions to RSS feed increase, advertising with RSS feeds has been moved to the front burner.

While other RSS-related sites already feature advertisements, it was reported recently that Google was testing RSS advertising using AdWords/AdSense text ads. According to MarketingVOX.com, external RSS feeds are not the only place Google is testing out this process.

Gmail members who are fortunate enough to receive access to the Gmail Clips features will also get to experience Google's testing of RSS ads, as they are appearing within feeds users have subscribed to. Similar to the LonghornBlogs test, Gmail Clips features text ads appearing as contextually relevant links. The Google AdSense program serves these links.

Gmail Clips allows users to pick feeds of their own to monitor or they can pick subscriptions from a suggested feed list.
