Should VeriSign Resurrect Controversial Search Service?

VeriSign is reconsidering its "Site Finder" search service, the Washington Post reports.
Last September, the California-based company which claims to make the Internet "more intelligent, reliable, and secure" launched its controversial new service that profits off of online users' typing mistakes by offering links to sites with similar names in addition to paid advertisements.
Critics say VeriSign already has an unfair disadvantage over Internet operations by managing the dot-com and dot-net domains, and there have also been numerous complaints that Site Finder causes technical malfunctions.
Nonetheless, Stratton Sclavos, chief executive of VeriSign Inc., says the service may be resurrected as early as April.
