Google Dance Answers

Hello-

We know that Google did its "dance" around the beginning of the month. Now we notice that the date Jan. 14 is shown in the url of our listing and the rank has changed slightly. We also noticed the dates Jan. 14 and Jan 15 shown randomly on other results for various searches.
Can you tell us what the dates mean? Do they indicate that the site has been crawled again?

Thanks for your help--we appreciate it!

Donna,

I checked with my Google friend to make SURE about this one. Here's what he said:

Robin: What if there is NO date beside the listing? Does it mean that the page wasn't respidered on the last spider crawl?

Google: That is the date that we last spidered that page. If it was relatively recently, we add the date to denote that the result is pretty fresh.

Robin: What if the date is January 14 or 15 -- does that mean that the page was spidered in the middle of the month?

Google: It's the spidering date, although I'd be very surprised to see us mark a page from 10 days ago with a date..

Hope this helps.

Robin
