Rumors Still Strong For Google Phone In 2010

I have been skeptical on Google ever making its own Google phone but what the London Times reports does sound interesting and makes some sense.

I have chosen previously to ignore all the rumors of a Google phone with a mindset similar to Rob Jackson at Phandroid as it doesnt fit Googles business model to be a manufacturer and it would subvert its relationships with actual device manufacturers and service providers in building its Android base.

Then Michael Arrington threw his reputation along with TechCrunch behind the latest Google Phone rumors although it could be another Punkd episode as Facebook did with its photo faxing option.

Now with some more details from the London Times it seems to make more sense although I remain skeptical with my contacts in Google having no clue on it.

The Google Phone is reported to have a processor almost twice as fast as the one powering Apples iPhone 3GS and with the Flan Android release would enable the phone to render high-speed 3-D gaming.

It does make more sense that it would actually be manufactured by HTC but like most of its current Android phones having with Google stamped on the back then its not a stretch to ultimately have one branded with Google Phone.

Now it can have this branding since its speculated to not require a mobile service carrier as it would be using Google Voice along with its recent acquisition of Gizmo5 allowing calls to run over VOIP.

Now the missing link is how the phone would work when there is not WiFi service as well I am doubtful on it being released in early 2010.
