Google Goes Back To 2001!
By: Matthew Elshaw 2008-10-07 As part of Google's 10th birthday celebrations, they've made the unprecedented move of releasing a full version of their search index that dates back to 2001. The search engine features an old logo (with exclamation mark!) and is missing many of the features we've come to expect like other search types and the "I'm feeling lucky" button. "iPod" did not refer to a music player, "youtube" was nonsense, and if you were looking for "Michael Phelps," chances are you meant the scientist, not the swimmer. "Wikipedia" was brand new.Google have never released an older search index before, and I'd say this is not likely to be repeated anytime soon. The site will be pulled down later this month, so if you've got any other interesting search queries, let us know below!Comments Tag: Google, Search, SEO Add to Del.icio.us | Digg | Reddit | Furl Have a bookmark! - About the Author: Matt is a marketing professional at ineedhits.com, an international search marketing firm.
