Google Gets Sued Again!
By: Navneet Kaushal 2008-08-06 - This time on Patent Infringement Charges Related to Google AdSense! For the fourth time this year, Google has been sued for patent infringement. Our readers may recall that, in the month of June, we had put up a post reporting that Google had been sued in a class action lawsuit by the start-up firm LimitNone LLC. In its complaint, LimitNone stated that, Google had undertaken deceptive business practices to leave the competition without any room to maneuver. Now, according to Information Week, in a a fresh new case of legal bouts, Google has been sued by Web Tracking Solutions and Daniel Wexler for patent infringement. According to the complaint, Google AdSense has been in violation of the Wexler's patent "Third-party on-line accounting system and method therefor that has been been the sole propriety of Daniel Wexler since Sept. 28, 1999. Via the patent, Daniel has described a certain method to provide online accounting and statistical information, minus the third-party advertisements. Last year, Google had called for patent reforms via its Public Policy Blog. According to the post, Google and other technology companies increasingly face mounting legal costs to defend against frivolous patent claims from parties gaming the system to forestall competition or reap windfall profits.
