Dutch Site Sues Google For Inappropriate Search Ads
By: Jason Lee Miller 2006-08-17 The proprietors of Dutch dating site Farm Date, an online meeting place for, you know, lonely farmers, is suing Google because the company refuses to remove sex ads that appear next to search results that lead to the site. Pieter Bosch wins the support of Dutch trade/farmer's union FNV in his claims against Google. Bosch claims the links are damaging to the site's reputation. A search for -farm date- on Google's US portal does reveal a sponsored result on the right offering to help "find a lady for sex." A ruling on the case is due on August 24th. According to PoynterOnline, Google "did not want to respond" about the case. Ads appearing in the sponsored search results are automatically supplied by Google's AdWords technology. To Google's credit, at least there's nothing about sheep. Have a bookmark! -
