Google Guy Reveals Secret Identity
By: SearchNewz Staff 2006-08-15 Comic book legend Stan Lee (Spider-Man, X-Men, the Hulk) is the first to tell you that a super hero never reveals his or her secret identity. Matt Cutts, you're so busted. Turn in your GG emblem and your Justice League secret decoder ring. A fan, riddled with the need to know, overcame the quivering intimidation - it's going to get thick in here before I finish folks - and the blinding sublime brightness that is Cutts, and, after having noticed the similarities between glasses-wearing Matt and the piercing stare of a particular spam-busting and corrective lens-less shadowy figure known for lurking about in online webmaster forums - we're almost there everybody - and doling out charitable nuggets of SEO advice, and just flat out asked him in front of a captive SES San Jose audience. "Are you Google Guy?" Because, you know, glasses can fool just about anybody. "I backed into that position," Cutts revealed. And then, nobody said anything else until Monday. Mike McDonald was in the room that day, preoccupied with a faltering notebook. Or maybe he already knew I had to find out from Rand Fishkin, who passively asked if anybody noticed he'd said that. Hey, wait a minute, Danny Sullivan knew all along. Curses! I had a hunch, though. Kentucky people smell their own - and last year's "bourbon" algorithm update was a clue. Shame on you, Google Guy, for betraying the super hero code. Unless, of course, you're actually "a god" like you fan club says, in which case, I have some favors to ask. My karma's good, I swear it. Have a bookmark! -
