Visitors can construct a Yahoo Search engine for their sites through the new Yahoo Search Builder service.

Mike McDonald from WebProNews reported from the Search Engine Strategies conference in San Jose that Yahoo formally announced its Search Builder service today.

The service lets visitors easily add Yahoo Search to their websites. Site publishers can tailor the code to match their existing look and feel. Also, those publishers can enhance the search algorithm to suit their focus areas.

Yahoo also noted the results can be personalized. A form available to logged-in users allows publishers to customize the web search and news search they place on their sites.

Publishers can specifically include and exclude certain domains and keywords for web search. News search can be limited to a timeframe of 30 days or less, to a series of sites, and to certain categories.

Then the publisher can design the search box, brand search results, and add it to the website.
