AOL Searchers Love "American Idol"
By: David Utter 2006-05-04 As sweeps month gets under way for the television networks, interest among users of AOL Search has mainly focused on the still-strong "American Idol." Once in a while our source at AOL Search, who we'll call The Query, tosses along some insights into where people are going with their searches. It makes sense to hear about television-related searches from The Query now. It's sweeps time, and that means series that have been teasing their viewers with endless repeat marathons began running new episodes again. "American Idol" took the top spot with the most searches done through AOL. Game shows "Deal or No Deal" and the venerable "Wheel of Fortune" made it to the top five. Personality changes at "The View" moved searchers to hunt for more information about it through search, while the ABC series "Grey's Anatomy" also made the top five. "Grey's Anatomy" holds special interest for Internet users, because of the blogs associated with it. They include Grey's Writers, Emerald City Bar, and Seattle Grace Gossip. They provide extra insight into the writers and personalities behind the show, and in this connected era Grey's Anatomy could be a model for other shows to follow as far as blogging goes.
