Apple should be happy also. ComScore conducted a survey of over 30,000 US mobile users over the age 13 and confirmed that the Verizon iPhone was "the most acquired handset in the month of February" though it is still trailing behind its competitors like RIM, Motorola, LG and Samsung.

Over the last three months, an average of 234 million Americans (13 and older) used mobile devices. That's 75% of the total US population. Nearly 67 million of those mobile users were using smartphones. Smartphone usage has been continually growing ever since its launch and it is quite evident from ComScore's report that it will continue to be the most preferred mobile handset.

Its not surprising that social networking represents the largest usage increase from November 2010 to February 2011. Isn't that the reason why users between the age of 13 and 40 have a smartphone?
