Instant For Places Search And New IPhone Search App
By: Courtney Mills 2011-04-01 The team at Google has been busy this past week with two new product announcements: Instant View for Places Search and Google Search app for iPhone. The latest product to be instant-tized by Google is 'Places' allowing users to view real time results for the place as they type. With 'Instant View for Places ', Google promises to display results faster than before, so that users can save more of their valuable time while performing a search. This announcement comes just a week after Yahoo launched a similar product for PC and mobile users, called 'Yahoo Search Direct'. To see how the Places Instant View works, go to the Google search engine and click "Places" in the left-hand panel. Once you're on the Places page, any search you perform will show real time results for place and map results as you type. Here is an example for the search query 'italian restaurants in san francisco'.
Google says that they are still working on making Instant Views available in all languages and domains over the next few months. Next was the launch of a revamped version of the Google Mobile App, now being called the Google Search app for iPhone that will give users direct control over their searches and provide an improved search experience on their iOS mobile devices. With the new search app users can go to directly go the search bar and start a new search or change their search settings and continue viewing a page simultaneously. It includes a new toolbar users will find on their screens that makes filtering of search results much simpler. For example, if a user wants to see only images or shopping results for his search he can do so by opening this toolbar by swiping from left to right. This new app will also let you pick up your unfinished search from where you exactly left it by tapping on the lower part of the page. And that's a wrap of Google's latest news!
