Google Encourages TV Show Owners To Tag Video!
By: Navneet Kaushal 2011-03-25 Google wants owners of TV shows to tag their online videos using the 'additional fields' that they have added. A Webmaster Central Blog post said... ... If your website is the authoritative source for the video of a particular TV show, make sure we know about it! Hopefully, you already submit Video Sitemaps or mRSS feeds to inform us about video content on your website. We now support additional fields in both video Sitemaps and mRSS feeds where you can specify metadata specific to television or episodic content. The additional fields include the title of the series, season and episode numbers for the particular video and the premiere date as well as other information. According to the post, your video's metadata will help Google in providing more details and relevancy to users who searches for your show online. The post also included an example Video Sitemap entry explaining the correct code as given below: <video:video> You can find the complete documentation for the tags (both mRSS and Video Sitemaps) at the Webmaster Tools Help Center. For any queries, you can go to the Webmaster Help Forum's Sitemaps section.
