Yahoo And Microsoft Gain Search Ground 
By: Courtney Mills 2010-06-15 The May 2010 search stats for the US are in and although Google remains #1, Yahoo! & Microsoft made some gains. According to comScore, Yahoo! and Microsoft recorded increases... ...in their market share when compared to April. While Google still holds over 60% market share, Yahoo! is slowly creeping up to 20% share with a 0.6% increase last month. Microsoft now holds over 12% of the market with a 0.3% increase in May. Here is a breakdown of the market share of the main search engines:
comScore speculates that the reason for Yahoo! and Microsoft's gain is due to their recent search alliance. From the report: Both Yahoo! Sites and Microsoft Sites have experienced gains due in part to the continued utilization of contextual search approaches that tie content and related search results together. When it comes to expanded search, Google holds a commanding lead with sites such as YouTube helping them reach over 14.4 billion search queries in May. Search doesn't appear to be slowing anytime soon " in May, there were 15.9 billion core searches from American internet users. This figure is up 3% from April 2010.
