Google Add Editor Information On Local Business Listings
By: Matthew Elshaw 2010-05-04 Google have made a change to their local business listing editor, by displaying the recent edits made to a listing along with a profile of each user who made the changes. This shows that Google may be keeping a profile on users and assigning some value to the quality of their changes. According to this post, Google is now presenting the following edit history when trying to edit an unclaimed listing in Google maps:
The edit history popup displays a list of recent edits to the listing, who made the changes and some notes about the quality of previous edits. Here are some examples of the notes Google is making about various editors:
This shows that Google is applying some kind of algorithm to look at the quality of edits, and potentially flagging these for human review. I would say that users who have a history of entering poor data or use pornographic/curse words would be unlikely to have their edits displayed without going through some form of review process.
