Bing's Growth Reaches Record High
By: Rene LeMerle 2010-03-23 The latest search engine market share report is out by Nielsen and the results will no doubt be pleasing for the execs at Microsoft. In February 2010, Bing continued it improvements... ...growing its market share to 12.5% of the total US search market. This represents a whopping 14% growth on its January result. Yahoo! is only just clinging to second spot with 14.1% of the market. Bings strong growth sees it less than 2 percentage points away from Yahoo! which in the scheme of things is the closest its been in years. Google continues to dominate the space with a commanding 65.2% of the US search market. Whilst Google continues to dominate " it did shed a full percentage point between Jan and Feb. So this continued growth by Bing highlights that Microsofts investment in the rebrand and marketing of Bing is starting to pay dividends " but what does the growth mean for businesses. 12.5% of the search market represents approximately 1.1 billion searches every month " thats still a considerable amount of traffic. For ineedhits " Bing actually generates more organic traffic than Yahoo! " so its important to keep Bing in your SEO and PPC marketing plans.
