Have You Checked Your Backlinks? 
By: Matthew Elshaw 2010-03-16 Like many webmasters, I use Yahoo! Site Explorer on a regular basis to check the incoming links for our websites. Last week I noticed a sharp increase... ... in the number of indexed links to our site and after checking the Yahoo! search blog, I can confirm Yahoo! have released an update to their search algorithm. Click here to read the Yahoo! Weather Report blog post. With the upcoming merger between Yahoo and Bing, most webmasters pay little attention to Yahoo! search updates. However I still believe they are useful to check for any new incoming links which have started pointing to your website. According to Yahoos post, the update was released on March 10th - so if you havent checked your backlinks recently, head over to Yahoo! Site Explorer and see if your links building efforts have been paying off. Looking at one of the link building campaigns I have been monitoring, I saw total link numbers jump between 25 to 80 percent between the 9th and 11th of March. Obviously this will depend on the type of link building campaigns youve been running. Let us know about any changes in your link numbers or Yahoo! ranking via the comments below.
