No it is time for the search engines to tell us what was popular all year round, and in some cases more recently: Yahoos 2009 Year In Review: Top 10 Yahoos Top 10 page is flashy and cool, but low on data: 1. Michael Jackson 2. Twilight 3. WWE 4. Megan Fox 5. Britney Spears 6. Naruto 7. American Idol 8. Kim Kardashian 9. NASCAR 10. Runescape 2009 Year-End Google Zeitgeist We assume fastest rising were the most popular all year: Fastest Rising (Global) 1. michael jackson 2. facebook 3. tuenti 4. twitter 5. sanalika 6. new moon 7. lady gaga 8. windows 7 9. dantri.com.vn 10. torpedo gratis Top Bing Searches in 2009 The headline their post with top Bing searches in 2009 and then give us this list headed: Top Bing Trending Topics 1) Michael Jackson 2) Twitter 3) Swine Flu 4) Stock Market 5) Farrah Fawcett 6) Patrick Swayze 7) Cash for Clunkers 8) Jon and Kate Gosselin 9) Billy Mays 10) Jaycee Dugard OK so if they are trending they seem to be really dated. Blah Bing do you really suck this bad to deliver these are your top (all year) or trending (recent) keywords? Good write up from Andy Beal on topic: Does Bings Trending Search Terms List Reveal Its Weakness? OK so what do you think of the top 10s from each engine? Do all the keywords seem accurate and normal? I dont think so. I think most seem topical at best and not really actual keywords someone has typed in. Google is about the only one that seems truly query based and not based on overall topics like Bing and Yahoo. Thoughts?
