Weve been telling people for a long time that they shouldnt focus on PageRank so much; many site owners seem to think its the most important metric for them to track, which is simply not true. We removed it because we felt it was silly to tell people not to think about it, but then to show them the data, implying that they should look at it.

In case you missed it, Webmaster Tools used to provide you with a Low/Medium/High ranking of your pages and also show the page which received the highest PageRank. Heres an example from search engine roundtable:

While Google have removed the values from Webmaster Tools, its not dead completely. You can still monitor your PageRank through the Google toolbar or any number of third party applications.

Personally, Im not sure if this will have any impact on webmasters who are still closely monitoring their PageRank values. There are still many other ways to check your PageRank, so if they want to reduce reliance on this metric they will have to remove it from here too.
