51 Languages For Your Website With Google Translate
By: Courtney Mills 2009-10-12 Good news for webmasters who have non-English speaking visitors to their website. Google have recently launched a new gadget which allows website owners... ...to make the content on their site available in 51 languages. The gadget is powered by Google Translate and here is the official word from Google in their announcement post:
Below is an example of how the translation banner would appear at the top of your webpage.
In order for webmasters to get this gadget, they simply need to copy and paste some code onto their website or blog. There are more details about the code here. This new gadget does, however, come with a warning " it will not produce perfect translation. In fact, Google Translate Project Manager Jeff Chin admits it should simply be used to allow visitors to get the gist of a web page. However, I think this gadget is pretty cool. By giving webmasters control over how visitors see their pages, it expands the reach of the website to a whole new group of internet users all over the world. Are you likely to use this new Google Translate gadget on your site? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section below.
