Bing-Twitter Integration In Search Results
By: Matthew Elshaw 2009-07-06 Bing has stepped up their attack on Googles dominance by recently announcing integration with Twitter! This will allow Bing to show recent... ...tweets when users search for a twitter username or other related terms. From the Microsoft blog:
Its clear that Bing is trying to attack one of Googles main perceived weaknesses, real-time search. While Google does index a lot of data almost immediately, many people see twitter integration as the key to true real time results. Bings initial foray into Twitter will see them index only a small subset of Twitter users based on their popularity and follower count. Its also important to note that twitter results will only come up when searching for a twitter username, or specific term like Kara Swisher tweets. Im sure this integration will expand to more users and generic search terms if all goes well with the initial launch. Watch this space as Im sure Google wont let Bing take all the twitter glory!
