Google Rumored To Have Microblog Search Soon
By: Courtney Mills 2009-06-23 It would seem that the power of Twitter and other microblogging sites is having an impact on Google especially in the development of new products! We only recently showed you how to dominate searches through social media profiles, which seems like great timing with a report from CNET News that Google is preparing a microblog search engine for finding Tweets. While recently browsing through the Google in Your Language Site (GIYL), the folks at the Google Operating System blog recently stumbled across a big hint to this rumour. The GIYL site allows individual users to help translate Googles products into languages they are currently not offered in and here is what was found:
What is being requested above is for the phrase Recent updates about Query to be translated, describing it as the MicroBlogsearch Universal result group header text. Hmmm, interesting! This isnt the first time Google have hinted at a microblog search engine. Just recently, Marissa Mayer discussed the significance of Twitter and other social media site to Google:
