WolframAlpha Maps Wrong
By: Jaan Kanellis 2009-05-20 OK so I decided to finally check out WolframAlpha, a unique search engine that utilizes Natural Language Processing for results. So really it... ...is not a search engine it is a thinking machine that will not give you results, but an answer for your query. OK so the first thing I did (not sure why, I guess because I live 5 minutes from there) is enter Cincinnati as a query and I get this map:
So what the hell is that map of the US suppose to be. What happen to Michigan or Lake Michigan for that matter. Did Minnesota disinergrate? I know I live in a little computer bubble 5 minutes from Cincinnati, but I would think I would have heard about the drainage of Lake Michigan and chopping of Michigans thumb off. I would hope they at least get map uploaded soon that resembles the US better than that. Then I search for what is the meaning of life? for fun, but get the same answer I can get on Google. I am seeing a lot of other complaints about it as well: Wolfram Alpha is Like My 5-year-old Niece Some good: What do you think of Wolfram Alpha?
