Google Updates Its Policy On Trademarks...

According to the new update, trademarks will only be allowed as ad text... ...under the following circumstances, in the U.S. only: * Descriptive or generic ads and not in reference to the owners or the goods or services corresponding to the trademark terms. * Trademark used in a nominative manner, specifically to refer to the trademark or its owner. * Resale of the Trademark " It is important that the advertiser's site sells goods or services in relation to a trademark term. Even the landing page of the ad must clearly demonstrate a user's ability to purchase goods or services in terms of a trademark from the advertiser. * Informational sites - Advertiser's site main purpose should be to provide non-competitive and informative details about the trademark goods or services term. Moreover, advertisers are not allowed to sell or facilitate sale of the goods or services of a competitor of the trademark owner. We also recently informed you about the opening of trademarked keywords to other coutries. Therefore, the new update is just an effort in that direction, to enhance and improve ad quality as well as user's experience. It will also make trademark use in ad text more in line with the industry standard. However, this policy update will be served only in the U.S on the Search and Content Networks. If you feel that your previously disapproved ads comply with the new policy, then you can resubmit those ads for review. Click here to get instructions on editing ad text.
