The latest images refinement is an addition to its series. We know that image search is tougher than text search as the true computer vision is not as developed as the content search and retrieval. The new image search introduced by Google includes many things like shape, color, texture and tagging.

We can not say that Google is the first one to introduce a similar images feature as Microsoft also added a show similar images option in Live Search. Tin Eye is another site where you can upload an image as a query instead of typing it in the search term.
