Generic Results On Google
By: Navneet Kaushal 2009-04-09 One of the recent Google posts announced that Google is now showing more local results for generic queries, but now it is officially confirmed. According to this latest development, users are no longer required to have a location in the query for local-like keywords. For example, if you live in New York and searching for web design, then you need to specifically type web design, NY instead just write web design in the search box. It will show you the results in the local box at the top. Google explains this change as: In most cases, we match your IP address to a broad geographical location. You can also specify your likely location using the "Change location" link on the top right corner, above the map. Users can use these searches for a wide range of keywords, like restaurants-, -dentist-, -groceries-, -sporting goods-, -flowers-, -bank-, -gym-, -post office-, or even -111 8th ave-.
