Google Playing With Sitelinks
By: Courtney Mills 2009-04-08 There has been a bit of buzz over the last few days from the SEM world surrounding Google search results. The news is that Google is expanding... ...its search results with little blue links between the page descriptions and the target URL. Here is an example:
These blue links highlighted above point directly to internal pages for each site. Loren Baker from Search Engine Journal has his theory on the change:
A reader on Search Engine Roundtable found an even stranger occurrence; the results are even showing numbers next to the links. Here is the example:
Barry from Search Engine Roundtable believes that Sitelinks are normally made up anchor text of the link and the numbers might just reflect that and nothing more. Well, whatever it is it sure is worthwhile keeping track of. Any improvements to the search results are welcomed especially when they could help you reach your customers even easier.
